ENGLEWOOD, NJ -- A New Jersey Terrorism Conference, sponsored by the American
Jewish Congress, will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Englewood
Hospital Auditorium, 350 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ.
The event, which is free to the public, will be held from 7:30 PM-9:00
PM.
Host and moderator of the event is the Honorable Michael J. Wildes, Mayor,
City of Englewood and Chair, AJ Congress Committee on Israel and International
Terrorism.
Featured panelists include the Honorable Christopher J. Christie,
U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey and the Honorable
Sidney J. Caspersen, Director of the New Jersey Office of Counter-Terrorism.
Wildes says, "As a mayor of a small city myself, I know first-hand
that fighting terrorism knows no partisanship. Presidents, Governors and
Legislators must resist the temptation to politicize this. And from the
perspective of an attorney who has handled many high profile terrorism
cases, I understand the importance of being prepared to meet the challenge
of terrorism. We have not been battling terrorism for decades like the
state of Israel. We must prepare as our State faces unknown challenges.

Christie was nominated by President George W. Bush to be the United States
Attorney for the District of New Jersey on December 7, 2001. His office
includes more than 130 attorneys with offices in Newark, Trenton and Camden.
He also serves on Attorney General John Ashcroft's Advisory Subcommittees
on Terrorism, White Collar Crime and Child Exploitation and Obscenity.
Caspersen is an established member of the intelligence community and has
successfully handled matters of national security involving espionage
and foreign intelligence surveillance operations. He was appointed Director
of New Jersey's Office of Counter-Terrorism in September 2002.
Wildes is a partner with the immigration law firm of Wildes, Weinberg,
Grunblatt & Wildes in Manhattan. A former Federal Prosecutor with
the United States Attorney Office in Brooklyn, Wildes has testified on
Capitol Hill in connection with anti-terrorism legislation and is internationally
renowned for his successful representation of several defectors who have
provided difficult to obtain national security information.
